Critical reception

"Wear My Kiss" received generally mixed reviews from music critics. BBC's Al Fox felt that "Wear My Kiss" showcases the group's brilliance, further saying that boasts a hook evocative of the instanteneous splendour of "Hole in the Head" (2003).[2] David Balls of Digital Spy called the track "a fuzzed-up pop thumper with suitably sexy verses and a chanted 'da-da-da' hook that lodges in your brain like shrapnel." Balls went on to described the song as very now and radio-friendly, further mentioning that it is comfortably more Sugababes-sounding than the group's previous two singles; "Get Sexy" and "About a Girl".[3] Johnny Dee of Virgin Media described the song as great and a stand-out on Sweet 7 but in contrary felt that it was trimmed of their former member's vocals could be by absolutely anyone.[4] Sean Thomas from Drowned in Sound said that the song was "gratuitous posturing taken to its tired limit, mixed with an added dose of unlikable aggression".[5] While the website "Unreality Shout" said for all its catchiness, "Wear My Kiss" sounds bland and lacks any soul.[6] Robbie Daw of Idolator said that "Wear My Kiss" wasn't the most inspiring of songs released by the group and that "Thank You for the Heartbreak" would have been a better single choice.[7]

Music video

The video was filmed on 14 December 2009. The full music video premiered on the Sugababes' official MySpace on 20 January 2010,[8] whilst a preview of the video aired on Channel 4 and 4Music on 9 January 2010. In the video, the members dance in an empty room with an object of something that is said in each of the members' lyrics. The first being Berrabah when she sings her verse, one of her lyrics include, "I'm like the tie, around your neck." to which a giant neck-tie appears behind her. Another of her lyrics say, "I'm like the watch around your wrist" and a large wrist-watch is in the background. In Range's hook of the song, she sings the lyrics "make you wanna buy a ring" and a large crystal ring appears behind her. One of Ewen's lyrics is, "I'm like the shoes, you like to wear" and in a reference to the lyric a giant pair of shoes is in the background behind her. Other scenes in the video include the girls dancing outside with a number of clones behind them, whilst towards the end of the song the Sugababes are in the empty room together with the lights dimmed down and lasers moving around them.
